Conor Brennan
IADT Dún Laoghaire
Conor Brennan is an experienced academic specialising in sound, creative media and music technology. As FilmEU Academic Lead since 2021, he led the team that designed and developed ReSound, the new Erasmus Masters in Sound, and coordinated the Erasmus Masters in Videogames RePlay application. Both of which secured Erasmus+ funding, he has also contributed to the Joint BA in Film (Pathfinder) while coordinating European research initiatives.
A Lecturer at IADT since 2008, he has played a key role in course development, validation, and industry partnerships, particularly on the BA (Hons) in Creative Music Production. He teaches a range of subjects, including Audio Technology, Interactive Performance Systems, and Emerging Technologies, and supervises final-year projects. Additionally, he has lectured in Creative Coding, Music Technology, Digital Audio Synthesis, Digital Audio Systems and Digital Video Systems, bringing a multidisciplinary approach to his teaching.
He holds an MSc (Hons) in Computing from Technological University Dublin, an MA (Hons) in Sonic Arts from the Sonic Arts Research Centre at Queen’s University Belfast, and a BSc (Hons) in Music Technology. He has also completed multiple qualifications in teaching and learning, technology-enhanced learning, and assessment, reinforcing his expertise in higher education pedagogy.
Currently a PhD candidate at UCD’s SMART Lab, his research focuses on co-creating accessible musical tools for individuals with physical disabilities, integrating software and hardware solutions in special education. His work has been presented at Microsoft Ireland’s Inclusion Conference, AHEAD, CTM Transmediale Berlin, and other leading forums.
Beyond academia, he has contributed to programme validations, served as an external examiner, and consulted on accessibility-focused Music Technology projects. Conor brings a strong commitment to innovation, education, and inclusion to ReSound.

Kieran Lynch

Kieran Lynch studied electronic engineering at University College Dublin, Ireland where he received a B.E. in 1994 and an M.Eng.Sc in 1996. After graduating he built a successful career as a professional music producer, collaborating with a growing number of international artists and contributing to numerous high-profile film scores. Kieran has extensive post-production sound credits both in film and broadcast. Since 2014 he has worked as a lecturer in sound at DkIT Dundalk, Ireland and in 2022 joined IADT Dún Laoghaire, Ireland. Recent research focuses on accessibility through audio, particularly in the development of technical guidelines and recommendations for setting Audio Description Dip Values. He is active in the standardisation of Audio Description production methods within the EBU MAT group.

Dr. Brian Carty

Brian is interested in the broad field of Sound Technology and its creative applications. He completed his PhD and worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the area of Binaural Audio. He has published and presented his work widely and has been involved in a number of funded projects, recently focused on the commercialisation of his research. He also enjoys working as a practitioner in the area of Sound.
After lecturing at Maynooth University during his PhD studies, Brian moved to the Sound Training College in Dublin. In his role as Director of Education, he led a period of significant growth and academic development, focused on collaboration with educational partners. Brian is currently a Lecturer in Sound Technology at IADT, where he teaches various modules in Sound and is responsible for leading larger-scale student projects.

Barry Dignam

Barry Dignam is Vice Dean for the European University at IADT, Ireland’s Campus for the Creative Industries. In 2021, Barry became IADT’s Programme Director of FilmEU, the European University for Film and Media Arts. FilmEU represents a pioneering approach to arts and culture education, uniting eight higher education institutions from across Europe.
As a teacher, Barry has over twenty years of experience working with students and researchers at all levels. At IADT, he has served as the Head of the Department of Film & Media, Chair of Film & Television, and Irish Course Director on the Erasmus+ Joint Master of Art in Cinematography.
He is the Chair of GEECT, (le Groupement Européen des Écoles de Cinéma et de Télévision / European Grouping of Film and Television Schools) and sits on the Executive Council of CILECT (le Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision / the International Association of Film and Television Schools).
Barry is a multi-award-winning filmmaker, his work has been recognised on a global stage, with films screened at prestigious festivals such as Berlinale and Cannes. broadcasters, on-demand platforms, and theatrical releases.
Deirdre O’Toole

Deirdre O’Toole is the Academic Coordinator for FilmEU at IADT and serves as the lead academic for FilmEU in Ireland. She is the coordinator of the upcoming Pathfinder International Joint BA in Film, leading the development and design of this innovative, multi-institutional program. Deirdre led the evaluation team for the Joint BA using the European approach. With fifteen years of experience as a lecturer at the National Film School, IADT, and five years as an academic within FilmEU.
A filmmaker and cinematographer, Deirdre has worked extensively across documentary, drama, and music video production. She has directed three documentaries that have screened at prestigious festivals and galleries worldwide, including Chagrin Documentary Festival (Ohio), Red Rock Film Festival (Utah), Aspen Mountain Film Festival (Colorado), Docs Ireland (Belfast), and the Irish Film Institute Documentary Festival. Her work has been exhibited in institutions such as the Turchin Centre for the Arts (North Carolina), the Saranac Gallery (Washington), and CIACLA (Los Angeles).
Deirdre holds a practice-based PhD in Film and Visual Studies from Queen’s University Belfast, where she explored trauma and storytelling through documentary filmmaking. She lectures across multiple programs at IADT, including the BA (Hons) Film and Television Production, BA (Hons) New Media Studies, and the Erasmus+ MA KinoEyes. Her expertise in both filmmaking and academia positions her at the forefront of contemporary film education, bridging creative practice with critical research.

Karima has a Research Masters degree in Music Composition for Visual Media and Bachelors degree in Creative Music Production. She creates music, foley and sound design for TV and theatre, and award-winning film and animation shorts. She has worked as a session musician in recording sessions as well as sound tech for theatre productions and sound engineer for live music events.
She has performed and recorded with bands of varying genres including vocals and drums for indie rock band Montauk Hotel.

Lance Hogan

Lance Hogan has been a producer, musician and composer for the past 30 years. After graduating from film college, he toured the world many times over.
His time on the road gave him an enviable knowledge of world music working with artists including Dead Can Dance, Sinead O’Connor, Kodo Drummers, Ronnie Wood, Babba Maal, Zakir Hussain, U2 & Kila.
Lance is now concentrating on his first love: composing for film. He has scored features from Finland, Hungary, Turkey, Italy, UK and Ireland, working with directors including Oscar-winner Neil Jordan, Oscar-nominated animator Jimmy Murakami, and music video legend, Kevin Godley (10cc).

David Novack

With a PhD in Media Arts from Lusófona University, Dr. Novack is a specialist in film sound theory with a strong focus in the areas of phenomenology, embodied cognition and neurocinematics. His content analysis was the first to elaborate on desired outcomes of sound design with qualitative and quantitative empirical evidence. A former lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Novack now teaches sound and cinema at Lusófona University for Humanities and Technology in Lisbon, where he is also a researcher in sound studies and sub-director for graduate studies in sound. After undergraduate degrees in engineering (Univ. of Pennsylvania) and music (Berklee College of Music), David has enjoyed an award-winning career in sound design and re-recording mixing for dozens of feature films and live events, from films like Velvet Goldmine (Todd Hanes) to an internationally-toured opera by Roger Waters (Ça Ira), and sound/projections for Toronto’s Meridian Arts Centre’s Death of a Salesman in Yiddish.
In addition, he is a filmmaker, with widely-released and award-winning documentary films. These include All Static & Noise (Best in Category, DocEdge Film Festival) about the plight of the Uyghur people; Finding Babel (Special Jury Prize, Moscow Jewish Film Festival) about executed Soviet writer Isaac Babel; and Burning The Future: Coal in America (IDA Pare Lorentz Award) about rights activists in West Virginia and their struggle for climate justice. With his films he has traveled with the US State Department’s Documentary Showcase, lectured internationally, and received an award for Best In-Depth Television Reporting on the Environment from the Society of Environmental Journalists.

Gonçalo Gato

Gonçalo Gato is a composer-researcher born in Lisbon, Portugal. Mainly researching computer-assisted composition, both for acoustic instruments and electronic media, he also addresses sound in various domains, including recording techniques, sound art and film. Gonçalo holds degrees in chemistry and music (BMus and MMus), and a doctorate (DMus) in composition from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with the thesis Algorithm and Decision in Musical Composition. He was one of the Panufnik Composers associated with the London Symphony Orchestra in 2016–17, subsequently becoming Young Composer in Residence at Casa da Música in 2018. A conservatoire-trained composer and guitarist, OpenMusic and Max expert, Gonçalo integrates computer technology into music-making, sound and thought, having worked with many important ensembles such as the LSO, Britten Sinfonia, Ensemble Recherche, Remix Ensemble, CHROMA and Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensemble, among others. He has collaborated with artist André Guedes creating the sound for his installation Formas Antigas, Novas Circunstâncias (2019), and has provided sonic consultancy to Alexandre Estrela, for his work Flat Bells (2023), displayed at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA, NY). Gonçalo is representing Portugal at the World New Music Days 2025, having been selected by the International Society for Contemporary Music.
Gonçalo has taught at numerous higher education institutions in Portugal and was a postgraduate teaching assistant at the Guildhall School of Music Drama. Importantly, he also taught at the innovative Sound Art postgraduate course at Lisbon’s main art school. He is subdirector of the Sound Science and Technologies degree and coordinates the postgraduate course in Film Scoring at Lusófona University, both a lecturer and an integrated researcher at CICANT and FilmEU. He is also an invited professor at Nova FCSH, lecturing on the Musical Arts masters and Musicology degree. He has published with IRCAM (OM Composer’s Book 3), McGraw Hill Education and CILECT, and has released a CD with the prestigious Austrian label KAIROS.

Adriana Sá

Adriana Sá holds a PhD in Arts and Computing from Goldsmiths, University of London (2016) and a graduation degree in Fine Arts from the University of Lisbon (1996). She is a transdisciplinary artist, performer-composer-musician as well as editor-in-chief of the Live Interfaces journal. Her research bridges artistic practice, interaction design, audio-visual theory, neuroscience and experimental psychology. She published with Routledge (2022), MIT (Leonardo Almanac/ 2013 and Leonardo Transactions/ 2015 & Leonardo/ 2023), the Journal of Science and Technology of the Arts (2015), McGraw Hill Education (2012) and Documenta (2023), beyond xCoAx – Conference on Computation, Communication, Aesthetics & X (2014/ 17/ 19) and NIME – Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression (2007/ 14), among others. She chaired the International Conference on Live Live Interfaces in 2022 and 2014, and was the lead editor of a related e-book. Elvis Veiguinha

Elvis Veiguinha is a Music Producer, Sound Designer, Audio Branding Consultant, Director and CEO of the production company DMix Collective. Graduated in Communication and Multimedia, Postgraduate in Cinematographic Studies, he is a PhD candidate in Media Art at the Lusófona University of Humanities and Technologies, where he is also a teacher in the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Sound Sciences and Technologies, Cinema Video and Multimedia and in the Post- degree in Music Branding.
He is also a teacher at the Escola Superior de Comunicação Social, in Lisbon, on the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Audiovisual and Multimedia and the Postgraduate Degree in Branding & Content Marketing.
Founding partner of the sound production company DMIX Collective, he participated in numerous advertising campaigns in the sound designer category, created and produced several advertising jingles, as well as the sound identities of radio and television channels such as RTP, SIC, SIC Notícias, TVI, Canal 11, TSF, Canal NOW and CM Radio, among others.
Having been involved in the audiovisual areas for over 25 years, he has participated as Sound Artist in joint exhibitions in Lisbon, Dublin and London, at the World Exhibitions, Expo 98, Japan 2005 and Kazakhstan 2017, as well as in film projects and television series where He usually handles sound design and re-recording mixer.
Throughout his professional career, several of the works he participated in were awarded nationally and internationally.

Hedisson Pereira Mota is a lecturer at Lusófona University in Lisbon. Currently completing his PhD in Media Arts he is conducting research in the field of music production. Hedisson holds an undergraduate degree (BA) in Music Sciences from NOVA University of Lisbon and a masters degree in Multimedia Communication from Alberta University. He is a researcher at Lusofona’s CICANT research unit and is a certified AVID Instructor (Pro tools) having trained at Pinewood Studios (London) and Edinburgh Napier University (Scotland). João Alves has a degree in Sound Science and Technology and a master’s degree in Sound Production and Technology, both from Lusofona University. He is a mastering engineer at Sweet Mastering Studio and freelances in the areas of music composition, audio post-production and sound filming. As a mastering artist, he has collaborated with Derek Jerome, Zé Perdigão, Custódio Castelo, Remigio Pereira, Guilherme Valente, Mac MacKenzie, Humberto Ríos, Pablo Rodriguez, Lisbon Film Orchestra, Camerata de Sopros Silva Dionísio, and more. JONAS RUNA is an artist, researcher, and Associate Professor at Lusófona University in Lisbon, where he currently serves as the director of the sound science and technology Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. His sound artworks were presented at the Museo Guggenheim Bilbao, 55th and 56th Venice Biennale, 798 Art District (Beijing), ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum, Galerie Scheffel (Frankfurt), Logos Foundation (Ghent), Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (Santiago do Chile), Théâtre de la Ville (Paris), Arnold Schoenberg Hall (The Hague), Yorkshire Sculpture Park (UK), Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon) and Casa da Música (Porto), among other venues.
He studied Physics and Mathematics at Instituto Superior Técnico and holds a BA in Sonology by the Royal Conservatory of the Hague (Netherlands). In 2015, he finished a PhD in Science and Technology of the Arts by the Catholic University of Portugal and became the Co-Principal Investigator of the project TEPe – Technologically Expanded Performance, based at the Faculty for Human Kinetics/University of Lisbon.
He is a member of the Complex Systems Society and a member of the Board of the International Jew’s Harp Society. In 2007, he created the duo ZUL ZELUB with Jorge Lima Barreto, for piano and electronic art music, and developed extensive transdisciplinary collaborations with the visual arts and contemporary dance (including the National Ballet Company).
In 2015, he was nominated as one of the twenty-five greatest innovators in Portugal (Innovative Nation Award), a prize attributed by AUDI and the television network SIC Notícias, and in 2021, he became a member of the Sciences Academy of Lisbon – Young Scientists Seminar, a distinction attributed to the twenty most original scientists from all fields of knowledge.

Luís Cláudio Ribeiro is the Vice-Dean for Quality and a professor at Lusófona University. With a PhD in Communication Sciences, he develops research activity in the field of media epistemology and sound studies. His recent publications focus on the medium, identification and characterization of changes by the use of sound mediators in contemporary society: O Mundo é uma Paisagem Devastada pela Harmonia (Lisboa: Vega, 2011); O Som Moderno – Novas formas de criação e escuta (Lisboa: Edições Lusófonas, 2011); Fundamento e Imersão (Edt.) Raquel Maria Lemos e Castro

Raquel Castro is a sound art researcher, curator and film director. She is the founder of the Sonora Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing transdisciplinary projects at the intersection of art, science, ecology, and sound. She directs the Lisboa Soa sound art festival and the international symposium Invisible Places. Holding a PhD in Communication and Arts from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Castro teaches in the Sound Sciences and Technologies bachelor’s program at Lusófona University of Lisbon. Castro regularly collaborates with artists, festivals and organizations worldwide. Her curatorial work includes the Sound Art in Public Spaces exhibition cycle for the European project Sounds Now, which has been presented at prestigious music festivals and institutions such as Wilde Westen (Kortrijk, Belgium), November Music (Den Bosch, Netherlands), Spor Festival (Aarhus, Denmark), Sonic Gardens (Onassis Stegi, Greece), and Ultima Oslo (Norway). She was also a guest curator for the Tsonami Festival in Valparaíso, Chile. In addition to her research and curatorial roles, Castro is also a filmmaker, blending her experience in both fields. Castro has produced and directed documentaries such as Soundwalkers (2008) and SOA (2020), which explore the relationship between sound, art and the environment. SOA was initially broadcast as a series on RTP2 and later featured on Netflix as a full-length film. Castro’s contributions to the field have earned her international recognition. In March 2023, she was appointed President of the Executive Board of the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology, an international association focused on improving the quality of the world’s soundscapes. Raquel Castro’s work is deeply rooted in her commitment to raising awareness about the connection between sound and environment, as well as the social, cultural, and ecological issues that emerge through the practice of listening.

Roberto Becerra (México) is an artist, engineer, technologist, multidisciplinary and sound maker. Co-founder of Ideas Block creative space, in Vilnius, Lithuania, and of the culture platform Arttice. Roberto is a developer, lecturer, and project manager at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. He has education as BSc in Mechatronics Engineering (ITESM, Mexico. 2009), MSc in Acoustics and Music Technology (University of Edinburgh, 2011). As an artist, has exhibited/performed in the UK, Germany, Sweden and Lithuania, besides working in the audio engineering industry in Mexico/USA, and Lithuania.

Jonas Maksvytis

Jonas Maksvytis is an Assistant Professor at Kimo, the Lithuanian National Film School, where he lectures on audio technology and film sound. He holds a BA in Radiophysics and Electronics from Vilnius University and an MFA in Sound Design from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. With over 20 years of experience in cinema post-production, Jonas specializes as a sound editor, designer, and re-recording mixer. Since 2013, he has served as Technical Director at UP Records, a leading Dolby-certified sound studio in Lithuania.
Jonas began his career in 2001 as a boom operator for the TV show Expedition Robinson and later worked on TV commercials, radio ads, and PC game localization projects. His expertise spans creative and technical aspects of sound post-production for film and media.
A dedicated professional, Jonas is a member of the Lithuanian Filmmakers Union Sound Guild, the Lithuanian Film Academy, and the European Film Academy. His extensive filmography reflects his contributions to Lithuanian and international cinema.

Dr. Ramunė Balevičiūtė

Dr. Ramunė Balevičiūtė is a theatre researcher, critic, and expert, actively contributing to the formation of Lithuanian cultural processes and the policy of higher education in the field of the arts. She teaches at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where she serves as the vice-rector for art and research. Also she writes theatre reviews and critiques, participates in various evaluation activities, and conducts scientific research. Saulius Urbanavičius

Saulius Urbanavičius is a distinguished Lithuanian sound designer and editor, celebrated for his significant contributions to over 60 feature films, documentaries, and animated projects. His expertise in crafting immersive soundscapes has earned him recognition both locally and internationally.
Throughout his career, Saulius has collaborated with filmmakers from Lithuania, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Finland, Latvia, and Estonia, showcasing his versatility and commitment to the art of sound design. His notable works include “Redirected” (2014), “I Want to Live” (2018), “The Year Before the War” (2021), and “Sobibor” (2018).
Saulius’s exceptional talent has been recognized with multiple awards. He is a two-time laureate of the “Sidabrinė gervė” (Silver Crane) awards, Lithuania’s national film accolades, and has also been honored twice with the “Lielais Kristaps” awards, Latvia’s national film awards.

Vytautas Dambrauskas

Vytautas Dambrauskas is a Lithuanian film director, Associate Professor, and Head of the National Film School (KIMO) at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA). Yiorgis Sakellariou

Yiorgis Sakellariou is a composer, recordist and researcher. Since 2003, he has been active internationally being responsible for solo and collaboration albums, having composed music for short films and theatrical performances, leading workshops and ceaselessly performing his music in various types of environments.
His practice focuses on the communal experience of listening and the communication between composer, audiences, performance spaces and the rest of the physical and supernatural world. His sonic material is founded on the digital manipulation of environmental recordings. The palette of sounds is all encompassing; from vibrating rail-tracks to refrigerators’ static, and from noisy waterfalls to the humming of insects.
He completed his PhD at Coventry University (April 2018). His research drew inspiration from ethnomusicological and anthropological contexts and explored the sonic symbolism and socio-aesthetic settings in ecstatic religious rituals in relation to field recording, electroacoustic composition and acousmatic performance.
Yiorgis Sakellariou is a member of the Athenian Contemporary Music Research Centre, the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association and the Lithuanian Composers Union. Since 2004 he has curated the label Echomusic. He is currently a lecturer at Vytautas Magnus University and an assistant lecturer at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
